Voters of the Shackan Indian Band are hereby notified that there is to be a referendum vote on whether to approve amendments to the Custom Election Code of the Shackan Indian Band, 2017.

On July 25, 2026 at 8:00 AM the Shackan Indian Band Council, pursuant to the Authority of the Chief and Council as per its funding agreement with Canada which outlines that Chief and Council “shall at all times provide for the preservation of public health and safety and the protection of the environment and upon determination by the primary response agency issues an evacuation alert for SHACKAN INDIAN BAND.

Another late update on the fire situation in the hooshum prospect area ( known as the Brunswick Ainsley creek fire complex. The fire has seen little growth over the past few days.

Membership for Election Appeal Board

Notice is hereby given that the Shackan Indian Band held a nomination meeting on January 27, 2024, in accordance with the Custom Election Code of the Shackan Indian Band (2017) for the purpose of nominating candidates for the Offices of one (1) Chief, and two (2) Councillors, for the ensuing year term of office, on an election to be held on the March 16, 2024.

At the conclusion of the hearing of this matter, December 12, 2022, counsel for the Respondent, Chief Lampreau, raised the issue of costs.
